something new

on jonnie craig's website.

check it out.

gonna try and snatch a few moments to ask him about the new book and forth coming work.

hand made in california?

so i got back from paris this afternoon. went to a party, caught up on what i've been missing and did some shopping. got taken to a little shop on rue st honore, 75001 where i was instructed to buy some vintage vans, which i did. all was well apart from my learning of the existence of all black velvet ones and the lack of sizes :(

anyway. i got some midnight blue ones. very cute. and when i got home and showed my mum she claimed that i had been done because it is impossible that what my vans claim is true; that they are "hand made in California, one shoe at a time" because minimum wages etc. So, can any one offer any info on this please so i can reply to her statement and not look like a dufus by only saying "... well it says on the label".

more interestingly, heres matt being bait.

Writing on the wall

Is the title to the new Nike 6.0 film

It is ready for download free of charge here featuring Garrett Reynolds and a host of others.

Sheer madness

I spyyyy (and love) peek- a- boo sheer details! :

(It makes me genuinely sad to see that people still insist on wearing these non prescription glasses frames even after them having been played out from the word go, and looking totally silly anyway... It is so statement it makes me cringe.)

Results day

Ive been using Clubmans brown tash wax for a couple of days now and it's pretty darn good, holds well, doesnt fade and most importantly doesnt wash out when you drink tea. There will be more styles dropping this winter.

Dollop

The Dollop 1st Birtday goes off tomorrow night. The main attraction is Buraka Som Sistema, who you can see in this video playing in a venue almost exactly opposite to the warehouse on Kingsland road that they will be playing in tomorrow night. The whole thing is split over 2 venues, kicking off at the Old Blue Last (where i'm Djing UK Garage downstairs 10 till 11) and then heading up the road to The Working Rooms Warehouse which is just where the canal goes across Kingsland Road. You can still pick up advance tickets from the Old Blue or the Macbeth, or you can pay on the door (it's only £3 if you just go to the Old Blue, its a bunch more if you go to both)... see you in there.

Pop´Africana

Thanks to DanFodio for a heads up on Pop´Africana, a brand spanking new "bi-annual fashion.art.style magazine.magazine" project he is involved in "which aims to re-introduce and re-define all aspects of "Art Africano".

In my opinion, not only is afore mentioned concept great, but it is brilliantly executed and matches it´s claims in a way which is fresh, current and accesible and visually captivating.

I look forward to seeing more of the same in the next issue in the new year.

The JD Set

So I'm presenting the new series of the JD set. It's 30 episode over the next 8 months, and we filmed the first 11 the other week. There was gigs in London, Manchester, Belfast, Glasgow and Newcastle with loads of decent bands playing. Hugh Cornwell who used to sing in the Stranglers (educate - he wrote Golden Brown, No More Heroes and Peaches) came on the whole tour aswel, as like the JD Icon, it was awesome. The whole time I kept at least one disposable camera in my back pocket and here are some of the results.  The first episode that I present is on next Friday, late on channel 4, check the listings.

The Whisker Club

Today I received this box of gargantuan size, thinking Christmas came early this year in a way It kind of did. I had been expecting my first supplement of Clubmans moustache wax for a while. Having tried candle wax, carmex and an array of other things I decided to splash out and treat myself it even came with a fine comb. Results will soon follow.

Put another shrimp on the baaaaarbie...

...it had to be done. Soz.

Was I just being ignorant to think that Aussie steez did not go beyond surfer?! Yes. We knew that Scandinavians could dress, but thank you Facehunter for an insight into what is also really being concocted infront of bedroom mirrors Down Under:

An after thought... How do the fashion seasons work in Australia? When we have our Fall/ Winter surely it is their Spring/Summer. Are they one step ahead or behind?

Live fast, dress pretty

I can not wait for the Erin Wasson x RVCA Spring 2009 collection and photo campaign by Terry Richardson. You can see some of it in the background of the video and photos of the September New York Fashion Week launch party.

The floral dress makes my heart beat faster.
