The First Days of Spring Official Trailer from charlie fink on Vimeo.
The excellent Noah and the Whale have only gone and made a ruddy movie to go with their new album. This is the trailer, it looks simply beautiful.

Last couple of dayz
Went down to the Long Leave party on Wed to see professor green and Skream, pretty good night, Skream played a couple of wicked jungle tunes half way through his set, a bit dissapointed with PG as I really like his stuff on record but the live hip hop PA didn't work too well with all the backing singers, hypemen and dancers (on a pretty small stage).
Then last night went to Joker and El-B at the Legion which was heavy, El-B was smashing it up all night and Joker finished with robot rock which was....rather refreshing.
next month the giant that is the motherfuckin' gaslamp killer is going to be in town
If you still haven't checked this guy out...watch this

Slacks.
Haven't posted in a while, despite having all the time in the world, I have had a lack of material to share. On Sat I cycled to brighton...that was nice-weather was shite, nice ride though. Took a couple of snaps yesterday.
OG familia-notice the dog in the basket. Apparently Supermom does that every morning on the school run. word.
This guy was cool, albeit a bit crazy. A little bit like the irish guy Bon posted a while ago, except matey boy here was wearing a Marcus Garvey t shirt and singing/dancing/playing harmonica and drinking tenants super.

like an eagle
More proof that the past is better than the present. This guy was a porn star who later got aids and blew his brains out with a shotgun. Fact.
smoking a lot of cigarettes lately
Rankin did this. I'm gunna go see Marina and the Diamonds with loads of other decent people at Scala tonight, come.

Pon De Floor
I just copped the Major Lazer album 'Guns Don't Kill People...Lazers Do'.
If you didn't know, Major Lazer is a fictional Jamaican commando who lost his arm in the Zombie War 1984. He now has a prosthetic lazer limb and poses as a nightclub owner to conceal his real occupation as soldier for an underground government operating in secrecy!!!
Well fuck all that, Major Lazer was conceived by Philly's Diplo and London's Switch (the producers behind M.I.A's Paper Planes) to front their debut dancehall project. If you have watched any of their music videos you will see that they are on a Gorillaz flex. The album dropped on Monday and got mixed reviews. NME described it as 'scrotum-tighteningly hip' and reckon it is a bit pedantic in it eclecticism, but that's the equivalent of online magazine DanchellUSA attempting to review The Klaxons! The Guardian on the other hand gave it a four star rating (out of five might I add) and embraced its mish mash medley of sounds as 'everything you always loved about reggae, and perhaps thought had disappeared.'
Personally, I think it's a real summer banger with an impressive list of collaborators (Santigold, Vybz Kartel, Nina Sky, Amanda Blank and Mr Vegas to name a few). Some of you may have heard that bizzare ringtone of an auto-tuned baby cry... it's on THIS album lol! If you are partial to a bit of dancehall or need a pre-carnival warm up, give Major Lazer a go and let me know your thoughts.
You can catch Major Lazer at the Notting Hill Carnival in August and at Bestival on the Isle of Wight in September (maybe sold out though!).
xXx

Gangsters
It is almost impossible for today's auteurs to make crime epics like The Untouchables, Goodfellas and Carlitos Way (three of my personal faves). I say almost...
Mesrine: Killer Instinct charts the rise to notoriety of L'Ennemi Public Numéro Un - Jacques Mesrine. Bank robberies, prison breaks, kidnappings, murders and even taking a judge hostage during his own sentencing, Mesrine's life is the stuff of legend. And if you have seen Vincent Cassel as the frantic and menacing boyfriend of a rape victim in Irreversible, or as the angry estate kid in La Haine, you will agree that he was destined to play Mesrine.
Whether you will be able to catch this at your local Vue cinema I couldn't say, but it will be showing at Curzon Soho from 7th August. AND as if that wasn't enough... Mesrine: Public Enemy No.1 opens on 28th August!
I can't fucking wait!!!

Crystal Fighters + Magic Wands
Warning - the bass in the following track may result in you throwing up on your sweet Nikes and having to leave them in the street like what happened to this guy.
Magic Wands TUNE Black Magic has been knocking around for a bit, but it's awesome and stands strong next to any of the other female-vocal-lead synth based music of the moment (Solid Gold, La Roux, Little Boots etc)... they also made an excellent decision to get a remix done by our friends and live-dance-act of the moment Crystal Fighters, here it is at 320kbs
