The Desktop Wallpaper Project

Bobby over at the Kitsune Noir blog has recently launched 'The Desktop Wallpaper Project' which involves 60 chosen artists designing individual wallpapers which will then be put up on the blog and can be downloaded to spice up you wallpaper every now and then. These are the first three of sixty:

Heres a few of Bobby's own radiohead inspired wallpapers.

This project is of particular interest to me due to its unconventional approach to the subject of 'art' and its confines. You may have already realised I tend to be more interested in design and art when they are taken out of the traditional or conventional sphere of 'art'. For me a wallpaper is likely to have more of an impact than a watercolour hanging in some obscure gallery as I'm likely to stare aimlessly at it for hours whilst wasting my life on a computer.

Notes of a scandal

My friend (Formally known as 'Quimby') has been on the receiving end of a number of complaints regarding his sordid late night activities.

The saga all began at the start of the 'Michaelmas' term when certain oriental neighboring personalities started posting anonymous notes.

The second installment arrived 2 months later. This time the creator was kind enough to use two different colours.

After a visit from none other than el 'senior (p)resident'. "Quimby" was kindly sent an official warning via email - "One more strike and your out".

That about sums up the bedroom saga. However recently a new challenger stepped into the arena operating under the alias of "Adam". His note was signed and thanked by Jackie (Chan?). This simply added insult to injury and provoked "Quimby" to offer some words of wisdom.

Kermit

Questions have been answered about the mysterious Kermit the Frog x Supreme posters in New York and LA. On March 3rd, there will be a photography exhibition in Paris at Colette showcasing shots of Kermit the Frog sporting a Supreme tee, shot by the photographer Terry Richardson.

Kick Flick

This was my first ever attempt at taking serious photos through the eyes of a camera. Most of the pictures document our late night outing to south bank. Would appreciate any feedback on the flicks.

I'm sad the picture of the San Miguels and Chicken didnt come out nice. More to come!

Billboard baby

The Undefeated/Nike billboard above the Undefeated store on La Brea, Los Angeles has gotten a make-over these past days. The new billboard off course got a Dunk related design, since Nike is celebrating the shoe this year. In comparison to the designs predecessors it aint weighting up. They didn't even do a imaginative Dunk spin off or something or that sort....

Neckface - Return of the masked avenger

Neck Face's images are violent, scratchy and bloody, with one foot in heavy metal and the other in bathroom graffiti. Neck Face made his name on the streets of San Francisco and later New York, scrawling his name like a dripping swear word as opposed to a graffiti tag or mural.

Later, aphorisms – “Smile Now, Cry Later”, “Crack Pipe for Sale!” and a devilish face would join his name. My description of this masked avenger would be a bastard child of metal, skate and a youth spent watching too much Freddie Kruger, so theres no surprise he admits to "like seeing people laugh at my violent pieces, then they look around and wonder if it’s wrong to laugh at it". Despite any bad words people might have to say about him, he has gone onto to gain international recognition and boast exhibitions spanning the globe.

These are two videos i found that give some kind of insight into the person behind the mask. Its interesting to see Neckface's 'I dont give a fuck' attitude and to see the wall he draws all his different inspirations from.
